In 2020, HKU and Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited established The University of Hong Kong – Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation FinTech Academy (HKU-SCF FinTech Academy) with a generous support of HK$60 million from the Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation (SCF).

Bringing together top-tier academia in HKU Business School, School of Computer and Data Sciences, and Faculty of Law, HKU-SCF FinTech Academy focuses on nurturing world-class fintech talent, advancing pioneering cross-disciplinary research and enhancing academic-industry collaboration.

The partnership is a recognition of the growing demand for professionals equipped with interdisciplinary expertise in computer science, business analytics, and regulatory technology as the digital finance landscape has accelerated evolution. It will take on the vital role of leading fintech development, contributing to the growth and transformation of Hong Kong’s fintech ecosystem.
